Announcing IAC Accreditation

IAC.sealWe are excited to announce that as of June 10, 2015 the Vein Center at Commonwealth Surgical has become the first vein practice in Northeast Massachusetts to be fully accredited as a Certified Vein Center by the IAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission). This certification will augment and enhance service at our on-site IAC-accredited Vascular Lab, already recognized as a center of excellence for diagnosis of Arterial and Venous disease.

With the purpose of assuring quality of care, the IAC is comprised of every major vascular and radiological society. They have codified rules and regulations to assure a standard of care that represents the highest possible quality in vein care delivery. The accreditation process was extensive, involving hundreds of case reviews, new protocols, and other quality control measures including meeting (and in our case, exceeding) minimum volume standards.

IAC accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that the vein center’s processes and procedures have been carefully evaluated by medical experts in the field of treatment and management of superficial venous disorders. When scheduling a vein center procedure, patients are encouraged to inquire as to the accreditation status of the facility where their treatment and management will be performed and can learn more by visiting www.intersocietal.org/vein/main/patients.htm.

IAC accreditation is widely respected within the medical community, as illustrated by the support of the national medical societies related to superficial venous disorders, which include physicians, physician extenders, nurses and ultrasound technologists.

Our new accreditation will benefit both doctors and patients in several meaningful ways – including expanded recognition by major insurance carriers. It solidifies CSA’s Vein Center as a leader in vein care delivery throughout Northeast Massachusetts, and attests to the commitment of Doctors Nath and Tameo in the specialty of Phlebology.
